Baseball Programs
The VBC offers classes for hitting, pitching and overall skills. Scroll down to see descriptions of programs and register online. Programs have been scheduled so that players can register for back-to-back sessions for hitting/pitching or hitting/catching.
Fall Session - 6 week sessions: All Fall programs meet for six, 60 minute classes. Programs run from September 11 through October 27. No classes Saturday, October 6.
Overall Skills | Hitting | Pitching
OVERALL SKILLS | This is one of our most popular programs. It covers all aspects of the game (except pitching). Our skilled coaches provide lots of repetitions and constant feedback. Players are grouped by age and skill level. 4:1 ratio or less in all classes. |
Rookies
(Ages 5-6)

Players will learn the basic techniques for throwing, hitting and fielding in a fun, non-competitive setting. Players receive basic instruction and practice hitting off tee and hitting coach-pitch (thrown from one knee), fielding grounders, catching and throwing practiced. Modified game to teach basic concepts is played in each session. Instructors are positive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. |
Level 1 (Ages 7-8) |
This class is also a great balance between skill development and fun competitions. The one-hour class is divided into two, 30-minute sessions (hitting/ throwing-catching-fielding). Hitters learn and practice consistent stance, weight load and stride, short-to-long swing path through the ball, visual tracking, and balanced finish. Hitters receive lots of live repetitions from coach pitch. Fielders learn and practice correct throwing motion, catching with fingers up, fielding ground balls and throwing to first base. Fun competitions in each session. |
Level 2 (Ages 8-10) |
This one-hour class is divided into two, 30-minute sessions (hitting/ throwing-catching-fielding). Hitters learn and practice consistent stance, weight load and stride, short-to-long swing path through the ball, visual tracking, contact positions, balanced finish, and bunting. Hitters receive lots of repetitions from coach pitch and JUGS pitching machine. Fielders learn and practice correct throwing motion, proper catching and exchange from glove to hand, fielding ground balls (including forehands and backhands) and playing first base. Fun competitions in each session. |
Level 3 (Ages 10-12) |
This one-hour class is divided into two, 30-minute sessions (hitting/ throwing-catching-fielding). Hitters learn and practice consistent stance, weight load and stride, short-to-long swing path through the ball, visual tracking, contact positions, extension through the ball, balanced finish, and bunting. Hitters receive lots of repetitions from coach pitch and JUGS pitching machine. Fielders learn and practice correct throwing motion, proper catching and exchange from glove to hand, fielding ground balls (including forehands and backhands) and playing first base. HITTING | All hitting programs include extensive work in hitting mechanics and mental approaches to hitting. Each session includes both physical and mental aspects. Players learn and practice hitting skills which are broken down into upper and lower body mechanics. Hitting techniques are applied appropriately to individual's style of hitting and body type. . Players are grouped by age and skill level. 4:1 ratio or less in all classes. Some of the hitting classes are scheduled back-to-back with pitching classes. |

PITCHING | All pitching programs include extensive work in pitching mechanics and mental approaches related to pitching. Each session includes both physical and mental aspects. Body conditioning, warm up, and arm strengthening each class. Players learn and practice pitching skills. Each player gets plenty of reps pitching off our indoor mounds. Players are grouped by age and skill level. 4:1 ratio or less in all classes. Several of our pitching classes are scheduled back-to-back with our hitting classes. |
Level 1 (Ages 7-8) |
Pitchers learn fundamentals of arm care, arm-strength conditioning, age-appropriate grip, rocker-step, pivot, balance, stride to balanced power position, arm slot and release, and follow through. Pitchers develop proper throwing form through drills and repetitions. Supervised bullpens each session. |
Level 2 (Ages 9-11) |
Pitchers learn fundamentals of arm care, arm-strength conditioning, pitch grips, balance, hand separation, stride to balanced power position, arm slot and release, extension, and follow through. Pitch location emphasized. Supervised bullpens each session. |
Advanced Pitching & Physical Training |
Advanced Pitching & Physical Training (Ages 11-12, 50/70) Ages 13-18, 60 foot) Pitchers review and practice fundamentals of arm care, arm-strength and physical conditioning, pitch grips, balance, hand separation, driving lower body to power position, arm slot and release, extension, and follow through. Pitchers develop off speed and change ups. Pitch location emphasized. Supervised bullpens each session. Work on mental and physical aspects of controlling the running game. We can customize a program to meet your players' needs. You put together a group of three or more players and we'll work with you to design the program that you want at a time that is convenient for you. You choose the VBC instructor. HOLIDAY CAMPS |
The VBC is offering specialty camps at the VBC Center this fall. Come enjoy a day of baseball. Player/coach ratio of 8:1 or less in all Holiday Camps. The camp hours are 9am-2pm. AM and PM Extended hours available at the VBC Merrifield Indoor Training Center. What to bring: water bottle, lunch, glove, bat and helmet. Ages 7-12. View Indoor Camp agenda.
